Adsense for Search. In most webmasters quest to make money with AdSense, they tend to just place ads above the fold of the web page and hope for the best. We now know that Google is penalising sites in SERPs (search engine results pages) that have too many ads above the fold. In fact if you have more than 2 ads above the fold you risk seeing your sites rankings drop like a lead balloon. Its all to do with Google’s new page layout algorithm improvements. So what do us AdSense advertisers do to maximise our revenue?

But we need to do this right to make sure we maximise our CTR (Click Through Rate).

Its no good just placing the adsense for search box on your page and hoping people will use it. Its important to test where it converts best. In an ecommerce store this is likely to be near where the basket overview is, or even dead centre of the web page, both site wide.

You also need to take the effort and make the results appear within your own site. This is probably the most important factor. Its quite easy to do and if you are using wordpress you can just place it on a new page. This way the user isnt leaving your site and feels the search is actually part of your sites own functionality.

Finally to finish off you should colour your Ads so that they match your own site. Make the user feel like they are conducting a search on your website and not through Google.

It really is quite easy to make a decent amount of money from adsense. Though it is usually easier to point out the things above first before telling you how to actually make money from adsense. If you read and absorb the above information you’ll have a strong base on which to move forward and build useful sites that will attract users who will in turn help you make a passive income via Adsense.

Adsense certainly isnt a get rich quick scheme, but you can earn a regular monthly cheque that will pay your bills or buy you the nicer things in life if you focus on building useful information sites. Follow the tips above and in my other posts and you wont go too far wrong.
